Roco Chief Instructor Pat Furr will be presenting a one hour workshop at the 27th Annual National VPPPA Conference in New Orleans next week. Plan to attend!
The workshop is intended for safety professionals working with OSHA and ANSI requirements for the provision of prompt rescue for workers suspended/isolated at height while using personal fall arrest equipment. Emphasis will be on the pathology of suspension trauma and treatment protocol, rescue pre-plans and the hierarchy of rescue methodology. The three primary topics Chief Furr will cover are:
1. Fall Hazard Survey Report
2. Suspension Trauma
3. “Post Fall” Rescue Pre-plans
Pat Furr, Chief Instructor/Technical Consultant for Roco Rescue, has more than 30 years of experience in rope rescue, climbing and industrial fall protection safety. He currently teaches Roco’s Tower Work & Rescue, Rescue from Fall Protection, and Confined Space Rescue programs. Pat is also Lead Instructor for Roco-Capital Safety’s Fall Protection programs. Prior to Roco, he served 20 years as a U.S. Air Force Pararescueman (PJ), where he specialized in mountain and glacier rescue. He twice served as team leader for summits of Mt. McKinley in Alaska and spent two tours of duty in Iceland.
