Commack Firefighters train extensively in “Trench Rescue”

ROCO Rescue's Trench Rescue Technician course trains members to identify types of trench collapses, soil classifications, hazard recognition, OSHA regulations, and extensive shoring techniques.

The Commack Fire Department continued their commitment to training this past weekend by attending Roco Rescue’s Trench Rescue Technician course. This intensive 20 hour course trains members to identify types of trench collapses, soil classifications, hazard recognition, OSHA regulations, and extensive shoring techniques. Members were presented with a difficult “T” shaped trench which, under the supervision of ROCO Rescue Trainers, they were able to successfully complete different methods of shoring to provide a safe working environment to extricate a victim. The final day finished with a complex evolution that tested their skills and the members completed it with ease and professionalism.
